Have you heard about The French Paradox?
The French drink a lot of alcohol, gobble down on fats every day and smoke like chimneys, and yet they have very low rates of heart disease and obesity. WTH?
I want to know their secret. Not so that I could dine on cheese and cake every day, but… ok, I do want to dine on cheese and cake every day without piling on the pounds or clogging up my arteries. Who wouldn’t?
If rumour is to be believed, the secret’s in red wine. And that totally sucks because I don’t drink wine (or any alcohol, for that matter)…
But, not all hope is lost. Red wine may not help me lower my cholesterol, but when you put it in a cream like Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Face Lifting Soft Cream, it may do something to keep my skin looking young. And if that’s all it’ll ever do for me, I’ll gladly take it.

What’s In Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Face Lifting Soft Cream?
RESVERATROL TO FIGHT OFF WRINKLES
What makes red wine so good? Resveratrol. It’s a powerful antioxidant found in the skin and seeds of grapes, berries and peanuts.
It does some wonderful things for the skin:
- It fights the free radicals that cause fine lines and wrinkles
- It soothes skin, fighting off inflammaging and irritations
- It helps prevent UVB-induced damage
Pretty awesome, right? But…
Yes, there’s a but. Of course. Caudalie claims it’s the best, most powerful antioxidant of all, but that’s nonsense. There isn’t an antioxidant better than another. Your skin needs lots of them. It’s like veggies, you know. The more the better. Even kale wouldn’t do that much alone.
P.S. You won’t find resveratrol on the label. It’s in the vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil and palmitoyl grapevine shoot extract.

CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE TO MOISTURISE SKIN, TOO
Derived from coconut oil and glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is loaded with fatty acids that moisturise skin, leaving it softer and suppler.
Lighter in texture, it basically has all the moisturising properties of coconut oil without its comedogenic potential.
HYALURONIC ACID TO HYDRATE SKIN
Hyaluronic acid is a godsend for dry skin. It attracts and binds to the skin up to 1000 times its weight in water.
The extra moisture hydrates the skin, keeping it softer and plumper. And when skin is all plumped up, wrinkles look smaller, too.
And did I mention, hydration gives the complexion a healthy, dewy glow?
P.S. Hyaluronic Acid isn’t the only moisture magnet here. Glycerin does the same thing, but on a smaller scale.

Performance & Personal Opinion
All Caudalie creams have something in common: their incredibly lightweight texture. So lightweight, I couldn’t believe it able to work in winter. My skin gets drier when the weather gets colder and needs something more heavy duty.
But they told me to trust them. Caudalie prides itself on creating super lightweight formulas that are uber moisturizing, they said.
They were only partly right. On my oily t-zone, Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Creme works like a charm. On my dry cheeks, not so much. As I had suspected, it leaves them thirsty for more. So, if you have dry skin, you may want to stash it away until spring.
But, if you have oily skin, your skin will get along with this cream like a house on fire all year long. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and my t-zone is softer and plumper. It also has a slight sheen, which makes me look healthy rather than sweaty.
Plus, it sort of doubles up as a primer. It has a slight blurring effect that helps to make large pores, wrinkles and other imperfections smaller. That makes your makeup go on smoother and gives it a helping hand at evening out the skintone.
Now, if only Caudalie could add a bit more of antioxidants to it. Resveratrol is awesome, but your skin needs more than that. I guess you can always use it with an antioxidant rich serum? I don’t know about you, but I like to have options. 🙂

Packaging
A jar. It’s not the most hygienic and lets in light and air that can spoil the antioxidants overtime.

CLAIM | TRUE? |
---|---|
An intensely nourishing yet lightweight cream that leaves your skin as soft as cashmere. | True. |
The Face Lifting Soft Cream is a powerful firming and anti-ageing cream with a lightweight “whipped cream” texture. | It’s anti-aging, but not firming. |
Melting into your skin upon contact, the soft cream smooths wrinkles, deeply replenishes and redensifies the skin, to leave it looking lifted and more youthful whilst relieving dry skin. | It’s not moisturising enough for dry skin, but everything else is true. |
The ultra-soft, non-greasy texture is enriched with ‘soft focus’ mattifying powders for a dewy make-up priming base. | True. |
