the best Caudalie skincare products

Kudos to Caudalie for putting resveratrol on the skincare map in the 90’s.

If you wanted to get your beauty fix before that, you had to drink a glass of wine. That’s a great excuse for a drink, isn’t it? Unless you’re a boring teetotaller like me – then resveratrol snubbed you.

Well, that’s all changed now. 🙂

But, wait… Why do you want resveratrol in your skincare routine in the first place?

It has many superpowers:

  • It fights the free radicals that cause premature wrinkles
  • It helps prevent UVB-induced damage
  • It has anti-inflammatory properties that soothe irritations and inflammation

All things that keep your skin looking younger for longer. (You can check out this post about resveratrol to find out more about it and where else to find it).

My only problem with Caudalie is that they focus so much on resveratrol, they often let it play alone. You know, without all the other antioxidants that could supercharge it (doesn’t matter how powerful an antioxidant is, a mix always works best).

The products I picked contain more than just resveratrol, but I’d use a separate antioxidant serum anyway. You really can’t get enough of antioxidants.

Ok, preamble over. Here are the 5 best skincare products from Caudalie:

Best For Dry Skin: Caudalie Vinosource Intense Moisture Rescue Cream ($39.00)

Got dry skin? Caudalie Vinosource Intense Moisture Rescue Cream is just what the doctor ordered. It’s a concoction of Shea butter, grape seed oil (your source of resveratrol) and squalane, three powerful moisturisers that heal even the driest of skin types. Shea butter alone keeps skin soft and supple for up to 8 hours. Add its friends and your skin won’t complain it doesn’t have enough moisture during the day (or night). Oh, there’s a sprinkle of antioxidants to keep those pesky premature wrinkles at bay too. The texture’s a bit heavier than that of other Caudalie’s moisturisers but your skin can take it.

Best For Mature Skin: Caudalie Premier Cru The Serum ($150.00)

Caudalie Premiere Cru The Serum is my fave product from the Premier Cru line. It has a big dollop of niacinamide, a skincare superhero with lots of superpowers: it hydrates skin, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fades dark spots, kicks acne in the butt and even soothes sensitive skin and rosacea. It can deal with anything you throw at it. Plus, it also has hyaluronic acid, a moisture magnet that attracts and binds to the skin up to 1000 times its weight in water, to hydrate skin and antioxidants to fight off wrinkles. If your skin’s lacking niacinamide, give this one a try.

Best For Preventing Premature Aging: Caudalie Vine[Activ] Glow Activating Serum ($52.00)

I had been waiting so long for this. Resveratrol’s cool but your skin needs more than one powerful antioxidant. The more, the merrier. Caudalie Vine[Activ] Glow Activating Serum has resveratrol + vitamins C and E, two network antioxidants that fight free radicals, boost collagen and brighten skin. They can even help boost the sun protection of your sunscreen. The lightweight texture sinks into your skin quickly and leaves it softer and smoother.

Best Makeup Remover: Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil ($28.00)

Caudalie’s famous for its facial oils but I’m not a big fan of those. Don’t get me wrong. They ARE super moisturising. But they usually tend to contain irritating essential oils (yes, fragrant essential oils are one of the worst things you can put on your skin). Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil is free of those. Instead, it has gentle oils like sunflower and castor that remove every last trace of makeup and impurities without drying out your skin. They work thanks to the “like attracts like” principle: the oils in your makeup remover attach to the oils on your makeup and skin and rinse them away. When you’re done, your skin is clean and soft.

Available at: Cult Beauty, Dermstore, Feel Unique, and Sephora

Best For Dry Skin: Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk  ($28.00)

Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk is similar to the Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil: they both work thanks to oils. Which one you go for depends what kind of texture you like most. This one has a lightweight texture that cleanses and moisturises skin at the same time. Caudalie says it’s so gentle you can use it on the eye area too BUT it has fragrance so be careful with that! Fragrance aside, you can’t really fault this.
