In reply to Diann Brown. Diann, that's great question. Hyaluronic Acid works in 2 ways: it attracts water from the air but it also attracts it from the deeper layers of your skin. In the second case, HA brings moisture to the surface levels and moisturiser traps it in. But oils, silicones and other occlusives don't form an even barrier. Their molecules are so big, there are gaps between each models. So when hyaluronic acid is under moisturiser, it can attracts moisture from the air through these gaps.

Speaking of hyaluronic acid, I don’t understand how applying it under a moisturizer can work. My understanding is that it attracts moisture from the air. Does this moisture penetrate the moisturizer to the skin? I’m probably totally wrong about this and would love to be educated. Thank you.
