Last year, I’ve had the worst case of chapped lips I’ve ever experienced in my life.
This year, I’m not taking any chances. I’ve upped my moisturizing game to keep my lips soft and kissable all winter long – no matter how freezing the weather gets.
My partner in crime? Bioderma Atoderm Lip Balm:
What’s In Bioderma Atoderm Lip Balm?
MINERAL OIL
Say what?! There’s mineral oil in your lip balm?!
Yes. And my lips dig it. Mineral oil is one of the most moisturising things on this planet. It creates a barrier on the lips that protects them from harsh weather, germs and bacteria, and anything else that tries to harm them.
While it’s at it, it also locks in moisture. Unable to evaporate through this barrier, the extra water stays in, keeping your lips softer and plumper for longer.
But isn’t mineral oil derived from, well… oil, I hear you ask? Yes, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. You can’t just put straight oil in lip balms, ya know?
Mineral oil undergoes a strict purifying process that removes all traces of impurities and toxins from it. The result – Cosmetic Grade Mineral Oil – is so gentle, even sensitive skin can use it.

WAXES
Bioderma Atoderm Lip Balm contains its fair share of waxes. It has to. They’re what gives the stick its shape.
But that’s not all. Waxes also have emollient properties that keep lips soft and kissable. Win win.
Texture
Smooth and creamy. Unlike most wax-based lip balms, Bioderma Atoderm Lip Balm doesn’t feel too waxy on the lips. It doesn’t just sit on top of your lips, either.
Fragrance
Sweet raspberry scent. I could do without it (fragrances can irritate sensitive skin), but it’s pleasant.
How To Use It
Apply it wherever you feel your lips need the extra moisture.
Performance & Personal Opinion
Bioderma Atoderm Lip Balm glides smoothly on the lips. It feels a little waxy and takes a couple of minutes to fully sink in, but it’s nothing like those extra greasy lip balms that sit on your lips for hours on end. Phew!
It’s super moisturising. It makes my lips softer and smoother – for hours. Usually, I need to reapply lip balm every couple of hours. Not with this. I carry it around in my purse, but I only touch it up a couple of times during the day.
It does a great job at keeping my lips healthy, too. Winter has fully arrived in London, yet my lips haven’t noticed. They’re as soft and kissable as in spring.
The lip balm does a fantastic job at preventing chapped lips. But can it heal them, too? Yes… with regular use. Even the most moisturizing lip balm doesn’t work overnight!

Blistex used to have a liquidy ointment/cream that was to be applied every 30mins to chapped lips. THAT was miraculous. Applied a few times during the day, it basically did heal chapped lips overnight.
