ecooking vitamin e serum review

I’ll admit it: I’m all about Vitamin C. I love the dewy glow it gives my skin. Plus, it helps fight wrinkles, too.

Vitamin E? I never cared much for it. I didn’t have to. This antioxidant seems to find its way in almost every skincare product I use.

Do you really need a separate Vitamin E serum? Before meeting Ecooking Vitamin E Serum, I’d have said no. Now, I’m not so sure. Here’s why:

What’s In Ecooking Vitamin E Serum?

SILICONES

The base of Ecooking Vitamin E Serum is made up of silicones. Nope, they’re not bad for skin. Here’s why:

It’s true silicones create a barrier on the skin. This barrier keeps moisture in, so your skin is soft and hydrated for longer. Plus, silicones blur out imperfections, like wrinkles and pores.

But this barrier isn’t impenetrable. Silicones have a particular molecular structure made up of big molecules, with wide gaps in between.

Your skin can still perspire – and Vitamin E get through to the skin – through these gaps. Phew!

VITAMIN E

FYI, Vitamin E hides under the name Tocopheryl Acetate in the ingredient list. Here’s what it’s doing in Ecooking Vitamin E Serum:

  • Antioxidant: It destroys free radicals, the nasty molecules that give you wrinkles and dark spots.
  • Photoprotection: It reduces the severity of your sunburn and improves the effectiveness of the UV filters in your sunscreen.
  • Moisturiser: It strengthens the skin’s protective barrier, reducing water loss.

Who knew Vitamin E could do so much?

CERAMIDES

Ceramides are waxes that hold skin together. Literally.

They’re part of the glue that keeps your skin barrier intact. When you add ceramides to your skin, you strengthen this barrier, so that moisture stay in and bacteria stay out.

If your barrier is already broken and compromised (you know this has happened when you skin gets dry and starts to flake), ceramides can help you heal it and get your skin in top shape again.

Performance & Personal Opinion

I use Ecooking Vitamin E Serum in the morning after my Vitamin C serum and before sunscreen. Its lightweight texture plays well with both products, so I don’t have to deal with pilling (phew!).

The middle of the skincare sandwich is the perfect place for it: Vitamin E is a network antioxidant that boosts the effectiveness both of Vitamin C and the UV filters in your sunscreen.

Sure, I may not get much sun exposure here in London at this time of the year, but that doesn’t mean I want to take any chances with my skin…

The serum glides on smoothly on my skin and absorbs quickly. It just feels a little tacky for a while. I’m not sure how to describe it. It’s not greasy or sticky… but you do feel you have it on.

I can live with that. Especially after seeing how well it takes care of my skin…

Baby, it’s cold outside. Freezing temperatures and unrelenting winds mean a broken protective barrier, dry skin, and the flaky redness that comes along with it.

Not this time. Ecooking Vitamin E Serum strengthens my skin’s protective barrier so that it stays soft and supple all day long. I love touching my skin now. It feels so smooth and healthy!

I haven’t tried it under the scorching sun yet, but I’ll definitely take this with me to Italy when I visit in the summer. It’d work well as an after-sun treatment, too.

But I’ll use it only on the face. Otherwise, I’d run out of the bottle way faster!
