This year, I’m switching things up.
Instead of a hyaluronic acid serum, I’m going with a hyaluronic acid mist.
I apply it like a toner. After cleansing, I spray Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist into my hands and massage it onto my face, neck and chest.
I’m not gonna deny it, it felt weird at first. Now, I’m hooked. Not only it does what it says on the tin, it makes my skincare routine shorter, too.
Yep, now that I’m on Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist, I don’t need an antioxidant serum in the AM anymore. This stuff is literally loaded to the brim with antioxidants!
While hyaluronic hydrates, they keep wrinkles off your face AND boost the protection of your sunscreen. I mean, is there anything this mist can’t do?!
You know me, I don’t do raving reviews often but this baby deserves one. Here’s why:
What’s In Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist?
SODIUM ASCORBYL PHOSPHATE TO BRIGHTEN SKIN AND FIGHT ACNE
I’m glad to see Vitamin C so high on the ingredient list (second place, after water). Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist uses Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP), a derivative of vitamin C that’s known for its anti-acne properties.
SAP fights acne in two ways:
- It reduces the amount of P. Acnes (the bacteria that gives you acne) on your skin
- It prevents your sebum from oxidizing (when this happens, skin becomes inflamed).
But SAP isn’t just for acne. Like all forms of Vitamin C, SAP is an antiaging superstar:
- It destroys free radicals before they give you wrinkles
- It boosts the production of collagen, the protein that keeps skin firm
- It brightens skin and fades away dark spots
Granted, it’s not as effective as L-Ascorbic Acid (the pure form of vitamin C), but it’s way gentler on the skin. And more stable. You don’t have to worry about it going bad within a month or two!

ANTIOXIDANTS TO PREVENT WRINKLES
SAP isn’t the only antioxidant in Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist. This baby has so many, it’ll take too long to mention them all. Here are the highlights:
- Green tea: An antiaging superstar that destroys free radicals, soothes inflammation and helps prevent UVB-induced damage.
- White tea: Rarely used in skincare, it works like green tea but it’s more powerful!
- Ferulic acid: It destroys 3 types of free radicals and boosts the effectiveness of Vitamin C.
- Resveratrol: Another powerful antioxidant that destroys free radicals and prevents UVB-induced damage.
Can you see a pattern here? These antioxidants have photoprotective properties, so they’re great to use underneath sunscreen to boost its effectiveness.
FYI, no you can’t use them instead of sunscreen. Their photoprotective properties are NOT so strong to make them a substitute for it. But hey, every little bit helps, right?

SODIUM HYALURONATE TO HYDRATE SKIN
Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist is called “hydrating” for a reason: it drenches skin in a waterfall of moisture.
Say thanks to sodium hyaluronate. It’s a form of hyaluronic acid that draws water from the air into the skin. It’s so powerful, it can bind up to 1000 times its weight in water!
No wonder your skin’s so soft and plump afterwards!

Texture
Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist has a lightweight, slightly effervescent texture that sinks in quickly into my skin.
Fragrance
Herbal with a hint of lime.
How To Use It
Morning and/or evening, after cleansing.
Performance & Personal Opinion
After I apply Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist, my skin feels softer and looks a little smoother. But it’s when I venture outside that I can see how well it works. Even in the chillier London fall, my skin doesn’t get dry and thirsty.
Mind you, my skin is only slightly dry. If yours is drier than mine, you may want to use it together with a moisturiser or facial oil. Alone, it may not be hydrating enough for you.
Oily skin? This is a great way to hydrate your skin without adding more oil to it.
What you don’t need is a separate antioxidant serum. Seriously, Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist has more (and more powerful) antioxidants than most antioxidant serums on the market!
The skincare geek among you have probably noticed Steam Distilled Lime in the ingredient list. It adds a citrus note to the herbal aroma of the antioxidants.
I’m usually not a fan of citrus anything in skincare, but steam distilled lime seems to be the exception to the rule. According to the International Fragrant Association, it is NOT phototoxic.
I don’t say this lightly: this is how all skincare products should be formulated. Actives that work, lots of antioxidants, and no fillers/irritants.
Well played, Mad Hippie. Well played.
Who Is This For?
Anyone can use this.
Who Is This NOT For?
If you’re already using an antioxidant serum, you don’t need this too.
Packaging
A dark bottle with a spray applicator. Sleek and practical.

Just ordered it. I have been scared to use Vit C for a long time (i am very prone to break outs) and this looks like it could be a good start. 🙂
Cristina, let me know how you get on with this. I’m sure you’ll love it too.
Is it okay to also use the MH Vitamin C serum with this Mist on the same routine? If yes, which product goes first? Thanks!🙂
Marj, this mist already have vitamin C, so I don’t see the point of using them together. But if you want, you can use one product in the morning and the other in the evening.
